I’ve been working part-time at a McDonald's in Germany for about 5 months now (Lobby/Front). My managers advice dishwasher for trays are not allowed, for saving electricity. At starting I kept in the dishwasher anyway but after some the manager kept a poster on the dishwasher saying trays not allowed. The procedure creates a lot of extra work and I wanted to know if this is standard practice elsewhere or if my store is just cutting corners.
If a tray comes back dirty (ketchup smears, sauce, etc.), I am instructed to rinse just that spot under a high-pressure water tap. There is no soap or detergent involved. After the water rinse, I have to spray disinfectant and wipe it dry.
After 5 months of doing this, I can tell you: water doesn't cut grease. I find myself scrubbing frantically to get the sticky film off because this method doesn't ensure the complete removal of food particles and bacteria. Also leaves me with shoulder pain and wrist pain. Is "spot rinse + sanitize" (without soap) the norm in other stores,or do you actually use a dishwasher? If its legal then is there any tip to make the tray cleaning painless.
Since I am an international student with very little german knowledge and not good at communication i am unable to make a request or a complaint yet.

A short Perplexity research had the following result:
“This is definitely a case of a store manager cutting corners to get a bonus, at the expense of your health and customer safety.”
use as much hot water as you can, that will far outweigh the electricity “saved” by not using the dishwasher. manager can go fuck himself
The text inside the right aligned code-box is just impossible to read on mobile. Here it is again:

Call the health department?
I highly doubt thats normal. Unless they are all keen on risking fines from the health departement.
