Ho trovato questo articolo di 4 anni fa mentre cercavo informazioni sulle questioni ambientali dell’Armenia. È onestamente tragico che una sostanza tossica e cancerogena come l’amianto venga scaricata nella natura perché è conveniente o qualcosa del genere. Mi chiedo quanto amianto ci sia nel suolo, nell’acqua, nell’aria…
L’Armenia è nel mezzo di una crisi sanitaria pubblica e purtroppo non mi sento troppo ottimista riguardo al fatto che le cose miglioreranno presto. È già abbastanza difficile sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica sull’inquinamento a Yerevan, per non parlare delle campagne.

Asbestos is not toxic or harmful for nature, it’s a natural very inert mineral which is being dug up from the soil in the same way like granite. It’s not a pollutant, it’s harmful only when it’s broken into dust which is then inhaled as it has very small needle like crystals which are damaging the lung cells. If this dump is not excavated or disturbed in any way, it won’t harm plants, water supply, soil or local wildlife in any way. Only asbestos dust is harmful and only when inhaled.
