USSR coming up from the rear! LOL

selectively omitted Europe from the list

Seems weird that Americans would spell Kyrgyzstan as Kyrghizia. Unless the list was prepared by someone else ☺️

I’m surprised it’s not number one! Someone has to pay for those expensive designer purses and cars and apparently it’s the Government.

That’s cool. Now let’s do how much money USA sends to foreign nations

You can get the data to tell any bullshit you want, when it is all high level dimensions

  6. Damn, Zaire is still around? Doesn’t matter, conservatives will eat it up. Stupid made-up list.

Listen, as an east coast Armo who moved to the west coast it was a culture shock. People do take advantage, section 8 housing but driving a G wagon, credit card and insurance fraud…It’s embarrassing, that being said Armenians are one of the most deserving of the bunch. Yes good and bad everywhere but culturally we are good people with values and morals. Do they need to crack down a bit? Sure, but maybe go after the ones with extremist ideologies…am I being biased? Maybe but it’s the truth! 🤣🤣🤣

  8. Someone else pointed out on social media, here’s what it means, because the poster (“Diaspora Armenians” page) made it seem like Armenians are lazy.

    >You should be embarrassed for not understanding statistics.

    >“Government assistance” does not mean just living off food stamps or doing “worse.” It includes Social Security and Medicare for retirees, healthcare and nutrition programs for kids, Pell Grants and work-study for students, unemployment insurance, workers’ compensation, childcare credits, disaster relief, and earned veterans’ benefits.

    >So you’re not talking about “laziness.”

    >You’re talking about Armenian kids, parents, grandparents, disaster victims, veterans, and students.

  9. What is this even? No source was given for the data. Countries w/ antiquated names, like Zaire. Weird spellings of countries, if you’re brave enough to visit his Truth Social right above Kirghizia, is Byelorussia. Clearly, this is AI slop but that doesn’t matter. The message is clear – these foreigners are taking advantage of us.

Azeris are at 38% cuz they’re still figuring out how to apply

I cant believe people see these posts by the fucking president and don’t immediately cringe at how mickey-mouse this shit is.

No sources listed. Literally don’t even know where the data is from, who collected it, the methodology, no explanations for anything. Just spelling mistakes and xenophobia on display here.

The same people publishing that list have given trillions to the richest corporations and oligarchs whereas poor people getting general welfare have gotten pennies.

Keep in mind that this is only addressing Armenian Americans *born in Armenia*. The vast majority of Armenians in the US have been born in the US or elsewhere. This statistic thus does not mean that 60% of Armenian Americans are recipients of some kind of financial aid. I nevertheless think this is incredibly high, and just shows that so many of our recent emigrants from Armenia clearly exploit financial assistance which has not been designed for people who drive fancy cars (like im sure the majority of these Armenian recipients does). This is peak ghetto behaviour and just embarrassing for us

  14. Real_Employment8751 on

Seems true. As a diasporan Armenian i know how parasitic Armenians are in countries where there is substantial financial support from the government.

Something to point out that if this is true, it’s only Armenian immigrant from the Republic, and it doesn’t represent all ethnic Armenian immigrant. So this number is probably very inflated even if it is true (which it probably isn’t). There are a ton of Lebanese, Iranian, Turkey and Syrian Armenian immigrants that wouldn’t be included in this number.

Again, I would like to stress that this number is probably a huge misrepresentation of the actual static to suit the “immigrant bad” narrative of the Trump admin.

  16. ummmyeahi on

What does assistance even mean? That could be anything. Would be nice if they defined it. But they won’t because they just make up numbers and use it for whatever they want to do.

  17. pride_of_artaxias on

Yup. I’ve heard a lot about how people get into the US from Armenia and how they’re trying to defraud the system left right and centre. Only the blind and deaf are surprised at this revelation.

Let the conspiracies loose! (And never face the grim realities headlong!)

  18. Cautious_Work_3882 on

Is the US still accepting immigrants from Armenia? And if so, why?

  19. Argentarius1 on

I mean welfare abuse by Armenians in America does happen and it does need to change. Idk about 60% of families but more than average seems very likely.

  20. People can point out lack of source or question the methodology or conveniently dismiss it because orange man bad but it does not explain why Armenia is sandwiched between Iraq and Burma in this table, while Azerbaijan and other post Soviet countries except Uzbekistan are way below, unless it was totally random or some mistake.

  21. ShahVahan on

Just pointing out Armenia is 60% … Lebanon and Iran are half that at 30%. So let’s just say it’s a certain demographic of Armenians who clearly take advantage and have really changed the perception of what a hardworking Armenian American is.

  22. Exciting_Sherbert32 on

Not surprised, most of it is probably fraud. Think I’m racist? I live around so many Armenians here in Burbank/glendale(im Armenian myself)that when I step outside of this area I feel like I’m in a foreign country. EVERYONE I know has someone in their family doing financial assistance fraud and it’s extremely common for people to falsely report their income as zero. Now I’m not in favor of taxes and I don’t even think fraud of this kinda is that bad but people need to stop being in denial
