Ah for fuck sake lads. There has to be an inquest here
Incoming Tulsa rebrand. Mark my words
>Tusla developed a “safety plan” – it was decided that it would be appropriate that Oisín would live with his father in a house with relatives who would act as supervisors.
Jesus christ.
Wtf is going on in Tusla?! Not fit for purpose whatsoever. You just can’t excuse this and blame it on large caseloads. Kids are dying when it could have been prevented. So f*cking sad and infuriating.
Let’s remember the father is the real scumbag here
What are Tusla up to? Is there anything they have control over?
TUSLA needs to be re-established
If true, that man should have removed from the child’s life. And given some kind of psychiatric care.
Tusla’s apparent policy of “family reunification at every opportunity” is sending children to their deaths.
How on earth can you have armed Gardai have to intervene before you kill your child, and still maintain custody?! It’s insanity.
RIP Oisín, you were failed so many times.
Work with some Tusla folks and social workers. In a lot of cases there’s literally nothing they can do. There are nowhere near enough of them, the ones there are are underpaid and undersupported, and they have zero power of enforcement. If you want to fix Tusla and stop children from dying needlessly in the State we need legislation that would give social workers status like airport police or Revenue officers where they can actually enforce their decisions, rather than basically having them call 112 for the Gardaí like everyone else. Like in most of the parts of the state that aren’t working we’ve taken all the power away from people on the ground and given it to middle management civil servants who set up committees to discuss action plans that they’ll get to next month because they’re job sharing their three day week.
Write to your TD.
Let’s not just point to Tesla’s absolute failure here. There is also the compounding absolute failure of mental health care for the father. Which is a consistent theme for a lot of mirrors in Ireland.
“O’Reilly’s threat to kill Oisín did not result in a criminal investigation as no formal complaint was made by a parent or guardian. Gardaí must have a formal complaint by a victim, or in the case of a child, from a parent or guardian, before they can investigate such an offence.”
So a parent, who is sole guardian to a child can make threats to kill their own child. And there won’t be a criminal investigation, because legally the parent is the only one that can make a formal complaint?
I think the government actually has a lot to answer, why is Tulsa so underfunded. The lack of employees is putting children seriously at risk. Why are family court judges allowing parents who have threatened their children’s lives allowed access.
This poor boy must have been terrified, it’s unacceptable.
Threat to kill did not lead to criminal investigation because there was no formal complaint?!!!! Could the poor mom have been too fearful to make one?!! Is it not enough that the Gardaí KNEW he made a threat to kill that child and took off with him? Seriously. That poor child and mother let down by everyone. That is the most maddening thing I have ever heard. Tacitly blaming the mom for not making a formal complaint?! Where she has no doubt been in an abusive situation with that man?! NONE of this is her. How utterly disgusting to even hint at that.
That poor child. Been Iving in hell for god knows how long, and let down by everyone who was meant to protect him.
>O’Reilly’s threat to kill Oisín did not result in a criminal investigation as no formal complaint was made by a parent or guardian. Gardaí must have a formal complaint by a victim, or in the case of a child, from a parent or guardian, before they can investigate such an offence.
Is this actually true I don’t think it is.
THIS IS SO SAD
How can the result of an assessment be to keep the child with the father.
I know it seems in hind sight but armed guards were involved.
There needs to be accountability here.
So they killed the kid, very good job
tusla are looking pretty awful in the news recently, does anyone have any experience as to whether this is a general trend of incompetence or malpractice / just a string of awful happenings?
Poor ladeen. Failed by so many.
