4LAc on 10/01/2026 17:19 I have never seen that before, that’s amazing! I live in a refurbed 1770 house, and it’s taken a fair bit of insulation to make it cosy. So I can appreciate the difficulty.
SeriesDowntown5947 on 10/01/2026 17:45 Must have to change the bail every 30 min or so as they can burn quick.
Hex65 on 10/01/2026 17:50 So the bail heats up the water tank that is above or nearby, the steam or hot water is distributed through central heating pipes? That’s my guess and I saw it in rural Latvia years ago.
Wilde54 on 10/01/2026 18:20 I feel like that wouldn’t burn long enough or hot enough to heat fucking anything…
kevinthebaconator on 10/01/2026 18:33 How long would the bale last? Like.. A few hours, a day, a week?

A bale of straw is about 25 euro to buy though. That’s madness

And it burned all the way through the winter.

How long does a bail of straw last?

Lovely bit of pollution
Heating houses and drying grain with straw is not a new thing
