Read this article this morning. One of those cases where a new right or law is introduced and it just feels absolutely mad that it didn’t already exist. I can’t imagine how awful it has been for people in that situation.

It is mad that this didn’t exist in the first place. Well done for fighting for it.
Just goes to show that there are many Draconian employment rights that still exists legally in this country.

What an awful situation, his employer should really be named and shamed, he didn’t have the automatic right to the leave but that doesn’t mean they have to act in the most inhuman way possible. At least the law is changed now.
We should really aim to have a year of paternity leave so it is the same as maternity leave and therefore women aren’t punished for being more likely to take time off. It’s like that in Sweden and presumably the other Nordic countries too so it’s not impossible.
