You only need to pay if you get into the test proper. ”Paikan jonosta” here means ”paikan [YKI-testiin] jonosta”.
At least that how I interpret this, since the previous paragraph says ”jos saat YKI-testiin paikan jonosta”.

It’s always like that in the last 2 years after some law was reformed and people are rushing to get an YKI spot, then the others will be in line. About a week later, if they don’t pay fee, you will get notification about the free spot.

I think you got the test for free with this post. Study some more until you understand the enrollment instructions and you might just pass on first try on the actual test. (Stupid joke, don’t mean to offend)
