Being punched square in the face by someone you have never seen before who proceeds to pull out a 6 inch blade hidden in their jacket. Must have been utterly terrifying.

    >The inquest at Dublin Coroner’s Court into Mr Nkencho’s death was first opened on June 21^(st), 2021, but its formal opening was delayed until this week to allow for investigations by the Garda Ombudsman, Fiosrú (previously GSOC) and by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It’s incredible that the inquest is only happening now. Even allowing for the other investigations, five years is a very long time.

How does this qualify for an inquest. It’s an open and shut case.

Family, while upsetting for sure, completely blind to his scumbaggery & danger to public.

The hinting at a TBI to explain his behaviour does line up.. But not sure what this inquiry is expecting to achieve.

This is a very sad case, as the poor guy was struggling from mental health issues. However, he punched a guy in a shop, pulled a knife, and Gardai followed him back to his family home where they used several non-lethal methods, including pepperspray and tasers, to try and disarm him. Those failed, he refused to drop the knife, he got shot. His family should not be on the street with divisive placards, nor should they have appealed the DPP’s decision not to file criminal charges.

Is that Coppinger turning up like a bad penny, again?

Can we stop this attempt to yankify everything?

I feel bad for the guy and nobody should have to die, he was let down by mental health treatment. But this shouldn’t become a whole thing.

The Nkencho family are utterly shameless. They should have been told where to go long ago.

  10. If he was failed it was by our atrocious mental health system . I wish he got the help he needed before the Gardai made an extremely rare but justified decision in exercising lethal force.

I cannot imagine how horrifying it was for his family but pretending like that Gardai murdered him in a unprovoked racial killing is having the exact the opposite effect to what the family would want. Not only will they be unlikely to achieve anything here but any hint of a payout would made the lives of themselves and other immigrant families a hell of a lot worse. This was a very unfortunate incident but the use of force was justified. We really should not be discussing it 5 years later.

I’m always so grateful that the phone camera footage of the shooting exists. Things would have been so different without it

Amazing it has taken this long. But I fully expect the inquest will show the Gardai acted correctly. Not sure what else they could have done at the stage it got to

And yes, there should always be an inquest for things like this. Keep it transparent, whatever the outcome

Well done guards and thank you for your service.

Just a reminder that people before profit called for justice and sympathy not for the shop worker that was assaulted but for the violent criminal that assaulted him … That tells you everything you need to know about them …

The family are never going to apologise or acknowledge what George done especially to the shop staff who were terrorised by him, the spar had to close for a few days as the mob were outside and blaming the staff for what had happened, but pointing this out will get you shut down

Does anyone remember after this a large group from the Nigerian community started attacking the shop in question for calling the police? Even though he attacked a worker with a knife ?

They had to pull down the shutters to keep everyone safe. It was insane

  17. TorpleFunder on

He should have been locked up in a secure forensic hospital well before this happened. Early intervention is key unless we want more random attacks like that lunatic Riad Bouchaker.

  18. Is this the same family that were hiding in the house whilst he waved a knife around outside?
