Usual reminder the Jenrick is one of the most openly corrupt MPs in Parliament and has previously been caught up in a bribery scandal in which as Housing minister he rushed through approval for a Tory donor building new housing in London before a new infrastructure levy could be finalized. That approval saved this donor in the region of £50m from not paying that levy, and they were also given special dispensation to reduce the proportion of affordable housing, which reportedly earned them another £100m.
Worth throwing out as well he was Immigration Minister for over a year and did not achieve even a tenth of what the Labour government have already achieved. What he spent his time doing, rather than, y’know, the boring bit of quietly getting on with his job and sorting the issues he was making loads of noise about, was big performative stunts like taking a trip down to a facility for housing child asylum seekers and having a cartoon mural taken off the wall so that the place doesn’t feel too welcoming. You know, really effective policy like that.
