Small side note as a UX Designer: In user tests in SOME cases these trust symbols for security had the opposite effect: people who didn’T even think about security now thought about the topic of their private data and decided to not sign up to some services.
I go by the design and the size of the shop. As i design websites myself, i can see the difference between untrustworthy scam sites and real business. But it is not high quality vs low quality. It can be a small family owned business creating wine or whiskey as example and i will trust it BECAUSE of the bad design and some signs these are real people. I once bought expensive japanese whiskey from a website which used Comic Sans. 😀
