It’s a christian blessing. The kids you met are “Sternsinger” and they collect money for a good cause for the local church.
C+M+B means “Christus mansionem Benedicat”, Christ bless this house.
You can put the sticker over your front door if you like.

its a catholic custom. the kids dress up as the three magi caspar melchior and balthasar and walk around the neighborhood to collect donations. you receive a blessing for your house in return. cmb stands “christus mansionem benedicat” (christ bless this house) and also caspar melchio baltasar. dont know if thats a coincidence. when i was young they used to do blackfacing for one of the magi 😀
The 06.01. every year is a religious fest honiring the arrival of the “heilige drei Könige” (three wise Guys) at the birthplace of Jesus in the Bible.
In Germany and many places in Europe (as far as i know) there is the NGO “Sternsinger” which organises local groups who send out people (most often children) dressed as the three wise Kings who collect donations for the NGO which then hands it to charitable pirposes around the world. As a Return for your donation you receive the Blessing CMB which stands for “Christus Mansionem benedictum” (or Something Like that) which is latin for “Christ Bless this House”

It’s a Christian thing from the “Sternensänger”.
They come around singing christmas songs every year and asking for donations to their church.
The sticker is to place on or above your door to show that you’ve been “blessed” for the year.
It basically shows them that they were here this year and there’s easy money next year. lol
They will update it to 20*C+M+B+27 then.
20 (first two digits of the year) * C (Caspar) + M (Melchior) + B (Balthassar) + 26 (last two digits of the year)

Not so fun fact:
Some places still do blackface to represent Balthassar as African King.
It’s a good thing that you donated. You don’t want to see what kind of power of the church has here. /s
