Transatlantic relations are dead. It’s time – high time – for Europe to face the facts.
The US is a hostile regime that directly threatens an EU member state with annexation, while threatening those in support of that EU member state with tariffs.
It’s over, act accordingly. But act, for God’s sake.

That’s the whole point! Trump is Russia’s best investment ever. They really hit the jackpot with him.
The question is how long the EU and the rest of NATO will keep pretending otherwise.

Somehow I don’t think Trump cares, and his threats to take over Greenland via force is a far bigger threat to those relations than tariffs. I really think the EU and European nations should start to call for boycotts of US products and naming those products and companies that they should boycott, like what was done in Canada.

Eu and Uk should continue on this path. No need for retaliatory tariffs on the US yet. Send more troops to Greenland and continue forging closer ties. Start diverging from US investments too.
It’s time the U.K. made proper moves to rejoin the EU. You’d be mad not to look at how the world is shaping up and not wanting to be part of the union.
Edit: I’d also be looking at strengthening relationships with Mexico and South American countries too.

lol. It’s always “Could” or “Might”. Face reality, Trump and MAGA “Have” destroyed the transatlantic relationship.
Can’t keep wagging the finger and talking to him like a child (even though he acts like one). Sanctions, embargoes, travel bans and removal of US troops must all be on the table now. Europe must come together on this.

Oh wow not another weak statement from Europe. It’s as if they still think there’s a way to control Trump. No one is more powerful than his owners: Putin and Bibi. There is no way to encourage him with sternly worded statements to do the right thing.

The idea that you can bully a bunch of countries into selling your country a large territory by imposing tariffs is asinine. It’s an idea that only Donald Trump can come up with.

Statement like this are why I have no hope for Europe. We’re WELL past the point of “Could”. These people don’t want to confront reality and act accordingly. They’ve grown up in a world that no longer exists. The framework has been ripped up and tossed out the window. Enough waffling around and trying to appease and hoping the mad king comes to his senses. It ain’t happening, Europe! Wake. Up.

What transatlantic relations? Trump has already declared Europe the enemy to be beaten, broken, then split between himself and Putin as vassal states of Russia/America. The only relationship that still exists is with Canada..

I actually think this is a rather positive development. Trump was threatening military action in Greenland – which would be a disaster. Many people expected the EU would simply roll over, and Greenland would be Trump’s. By sending a token military force, the EU made military intervention much more costly, without expending significant resources, or weakening itself with respect to Russia.
Trump instantly de-escalated from military action to a tariff, and from his huffing and puffing, it would appear to me that the EU made a smart move here.

As a Russian, I don’t see much difference between Trump and Putin.
1. They both prioritize their personal interests and present them as “national interests.”
2. They both don’t give a fuck about international order or even their own promises.
3. They dont care about “democracy” and all order based on law bs. American ICE does whatever it wants
