Sono James, un regista del Regno Unito. Alla fine di ottobre dello scorso anno, ho trascorso diversi giorni in Serbia camminando a fianco degli studenti che hanno marciato da Subotica a Novi Sad prima della commemorazione del 1° novembre, in seguito al crollo della tettoia della stazione ferroviaria di Novi Sad.
Durante la passeggiata sono stato ospitato e seguito da vicino da Aleksa, uno dei coordinatori della protesta, che mi ha aiutato a spiegare il contesto dietro il movimento studentesco, il blocco e la situazione più ampia in Serbia. Il film è in gran parte raccontato dal suo punto di vista.
Ho cercato di affrontare questo progetto con attenzione e rispetto, sapendo che non è mio compito definire cosa sta succedendo, ma solo documentare ciò che ho visto e sentito e contribuire ad amplificare le voci che meritano di essere ascoltate oltre la Serbia, soprattutto viste le questioni legate alla copertura mediatica.

It’s still unreal to hear and read old news related to the cannopy collapse, and the start of protests.
The same emotions of anger and sadness come in as if it had just happened.
Just started watching, it’s looking good so far. I’ll report back when I watch the whole video.
One thing that is kind of off are the handwritten captions which are a bit annoying and distracting. They take up a lot of space, but the writing isn’t that legible, so it just covers the video without adding to it. Especially with the black background. For those who don’t understand spoken English, there is the possibility of turning on captions, so these are not really helping.
