And he’s correct, absolutely correct. We need to be stronger.

  2. GardenInMyHead on

Europe is complicit however his own party democrats are also complicit and if not more.

  3. Basaku-r on

Yes he’s right, we can’t be complicit here in Europe.

At the same time it is the President from HIS country making the threats and it’s primarily his own and his nation’s responsibility not to attack other nations.

  4. Dr_Doomsduck on

Well, well, well, if it isn’t the pot calling the kettle black…

  5. What about the complicity of millions of Americans who get up and carry on every day like this is normal rather than marching on washington en masse until he leaves? This is their mess to fix.

  6. FR_42020 on

Democrat party is complicit as well. It’s their country, what are they doing to push back on their crazy president? Have they found a candidate who can stand up to Trump in the next election? Why didn’t they run with a proper candidate in the last election? I mean, nothing wrong with Harris but she was on an impossible mission with near-death Biden only stepping down in the last minute. The democratic party needs to get their shit together and provide a proper pushback and a real contender for the next elections. Europe can only do so much, we do not have the power to control the US.

  7. What complicity? The EU-USA trade deal that was promised six months ago was never going to get through the EU parliament. It’s just not possible for anyone to order companies from the EU to buy fuel from the USA not invest in the USA. It was just a stalling manoeuvre to gain time for discussions with the rest of the world.

Because the USAisns think that the EU is a huge, socialist, command and control economy they fell for it. They actually seem to think that the President of the EU Commission has real power: idiots. She’s just the mouthpiece for the member states, anything that she says has already been signed off by the Council.

I find it embarrassing that he and the Democrats take zero responsibility for pushing a hopeless candidate and basically handing over the presidency to Trump.

Tell me you’re controlled opposition without saying you’re controlled opposition

europe needs time to rebuild industry, military and trade relations without dependence in the USA. In the meantime we have no other choice than appeasing the orange baboon.

It is up to americans to solve their issue before it is too late , otherwise no ally will trust them ever again.

Not sure what his goal is. Is this a cry for help?

Europe has shown overwhelming opposition to Trumps threats against Greenland and many soldiers from Europe – lets be real – are “digging in” in Greenland waiting for potential US invasion. In a diplomatic sense many are cautious about escalating confrontation which is udnersstandable.

More important. What are Democrats, republicans and military doing to oppose Trump? As i see it all of America is complicit and nothing serious is being done to stop him. That includes Newsom. Americans who voted foe this guy for President twice and are sane washing Trumps insane actions one after the other into something thats starting to look like authoritarianism.

Eye roll! The audacity of Americans needs to be studied!

Same energy as the NYTimes article claiming Macron has “Lost his touch” in managing relations with Trump, instead of, you know.. Pointing at deranged and demented Don who’s utterly out of his mind.

  14. TalkersCZ on

Moron. Right now Europe is finally opposing him and he opens his mouth.

Call him out yourself. Fix your own mess US.

  15. Eastern_Hornet_6432 on

I’ll consider Europe more complicit than California when California announces its secession from the USA. Until then, California is doing what Europe is doing: trying to get through this crisis without accidentally escalating into all-out war. It’s disingenuous for Newsom to act like he doesn’t understand what we’re doing, because he’s doing the same thing.

Why do yanks, irrespective of political leaning, always manage to think they are the centre of the universe?

Why should we even be paying attention to them? We’ve got our own issues to deal with here. I’m fucking sick of hearing about them.

Edit: to be clear – these are rhetorical questions.

  17. NekoCatSidhe on

No, Trump is your own fucking mess and responsibility. It is the Democrats job to stand up to him, not Europe. Don’t blame your own cowardice and incompetence on us.

Europe is just not taking that clown Trump seriously. The idea that the US would actually betray one of their allies and militarily invade Greenland is absurd and something Trump is just floating around because controversies give him the attention he craves and he is a narcissist.

Greenlanders do not want to be Americans and the large majority of Americans are against it as well. There is no way Trump would have the guts to make that kind of deeply unpopular decision. Not to mention how stupid it would be to do it, even for him, and how worthless Greenland actually is from an economic and strategic point of view.

But Europe has no reason to take the bait. If we just stall Trump for long enough on his equally dumb “buying Greenland” scheme, he will just lose interest in it and move on to the next dumb controversy, at least for a few months. This is not worth getting into a major diplomatic fight with the US over, which would not be in Europe’s interest, and European leaders are doing their job of looking after European countries interests.

Gavin Newsom is not one to be listening to. Gavin Newsom is out for Gavin Newsom.

  19. Frosty-Comfort6699 on

why doesn’t he just shut up and solves the complicity in his own country instead of posting lame ass memes all day on twitter

  20. Happy_Feet333 on

Yet another “Won’t someone rid me of this troublesome priest?”

Instead of asking for others to fix your problem for you…

    …FIX YOUR OWN PROBLEM!

    (edit: spelling)

Perhaps I’m misunderstanding something, but I assumed Congress and the US Senate were meant to balance their president’s power.

Maybe focus on their inaction, rather than expecting other countries to do the job that the constitution Americans like to exemplify, is failing.

  22. Difficult-Bug90 on

Gavin, what are you and your party doing yourself?? Maybe you should look inward before you attack Europe for trying to remain peaceful. This is YOUR president.

  23. CrazyWriterHippo on

So now his president’s aggression and fascism is our fault? Typical fucking bully shit. Fuck Newscom.

  24. Royal_Detective_556 on

The guy who immediately folded on his stance on Isreal when talking to Ben shabibo?

That guys calling the eu complicit?

    Pot, kettle and all that.
