French farmers are the main reason this is being blocked.
French farmers are screwing up Europe.

I have to agree with Merz (sadly).
If 20 years of negotiation won’t make a deal with Europe, no partner will trust our deals again.

1. There’s no reason a judicial overview should take two years to complete.
2. There’s no reason the deal shouldn’t be implemented in the meantime while waiting on the result of the review.

The deal can be in force while the judicial assessment is ongoing, I don’t see a problem with that. This is the pragmatic approach we need. It would be a fatal signal if Mercosur pulls out because there is another delay.

We might loose 10000-20000 agricultural jobs over 10 years, but we stand to gain 10 times more in Industrial jobs that don’t need to be subsidized AND price fixed to stay profitable, while I pay double the price for groceries…

I agree this is getting ridiculous, deal that takes decades to negotiate, and the getting sabotaged by foreign interests when it’s at the finish line?
No partner will ever take us seriously if we don’t push this deal through, only US gains from this deal being sabotaged because it keeps the EU mainly dependent on US trade, which makes us easier to push around.

copying US and abolishing the balance of power between branches, great idea.

European decisions are constantly thwarted by the self-interest of each country… which diminishes the union’s power. Yet, this is the foundation of teamwork, and when our leaders disagree, they demonstrate that the union is not a strength, even though these states were formed through a multitude of unions between different regions.
