The world order has changed, and there’s no going back.

This woman and some other politicians that were quoted embody everything that is wrong with the EU. The fewer politicians like them there are going forward, the better. They are delusional and unrealistic about Russia and its aggression, but weak, almost vassal-like, towards the US.

A few ‘tough’ words mean nothing when their entire political career revolve around Atlanticism. And this relates to all: liberals and the conservatives, alt-right, far-right or European socialists. Seems like a very big portion of EU parties are subordinates to either Americans or Russians.

What we really need is a different calibre of politicians: people who don’t romanticise world that no longer exists, and who will prioritise Europe amid threats from all sides, be it the US, Russia, China or whatever else.

Chinese leaders grew up in the shadow of the West and the USSR, but they worked hard to change that. It’s time for us to do the same, but this requires societal and political change.

Even if it is naïve, I am confident that the past few days mark the beginning of this change from a social standpoint, and politics will follow. Even if the US-EU deal is agreed, we mustn’t lose sight of the long-term goal.

It is finally time to re-recognise our own power and civilisational status, despite the efforts of certain movements to keep us on leash.

We don’t really have a Europe when it comes to economy …… Every country wants to sell their products/machines to the US. Even if this contradicts with other European interests. They are still fighting/competing with each other. In the end it’s always ECO when it comes to the US relationship. (Europe Chickens Out). Without Pain we won’t get there. We need action to be more independent from others. This will only succeed if we work together.

Examples: On European Tech, uniform financial system, …etc……

And yes , it will take time and money. But there’s plenty to do and there’s plenty for everyone.

Yeah this feels kinda inevitable tbh. US keeps acting like Europe is a side quest and not an actual partner. Hard to preach alliances when half the time we are doing our own thing and expecting everyone else to just deal with it. Not shocked the EU is salty.

Yeah I mean… not shocked? Feels like this has been building for years. US keeps acting like Europe is just a side character and then acts surprised when relations get cold. Like idk what they expected here.

    >but Europeans were “not willing to junk 80 years of good relations”, she told reporters.

Jesus christ… They were going to invade one of us (and they still might, can’t trust them)! That was what junked 80 years of good relations. Acknowledging that reality and acting accordingly does NOT mean you’re doing the junking, it means you’re not a pushover.

The sooner we accept reality for what it is, and stop seeing things only from the perspective of our own individual European nations and what is best for them, maybe we can finally act decisive on things that benefit us all.

When Putin and Trump starts grabbing land and sending drone strikes, I sure has hell don’t care if my country delivered the fighter jets to a European army, or if the beef at the store is from France, Brazil or Denmark.

  8. Yeah, yeah – watch European politicians crawling back to US and nothing changing for God’s sake…

Trump sees Europe as a freeloader that has leached off the US for 80 years. European leaders see Trump as a difficult but ultimately reasonable person who cares about the transatlantic alliance. I don’t see anything changing until 2028. European leaders will keep buying time, but I have no idea what they would do if JD “I just hate bailing out Europe again” Vance wins. Maybe Europe can wait Trump out, but 8 years of someone like JD would be too much. And let’s not forget that JD is backed by billionaires like Musk and Peter Thiel, who will invest a lot of money to ensure he becomes the next president.

You’d think they’d be more concerned with a couple hundred thousand dead Ukrainians on their door step?

Europeans don’t like the east I guess
