I mean at Davos he was literally inventing nonsensical stories about people who were there at Davos listening to his rambling, right to their face. But nobody will ever tell him directly that he’s making shit up for some reason.

  2. faresar0x on

Rutte himself is threat to europe. Kissing up too much to Trump

  3. serpenta on

Did he pull India-Pakistan on us? Like when he claimed he mediated between them, and then they denied they ever spoke with him? I mean, if he wants the US to become North Korea, where he will just claim staff, for the benefit of his voter base, I guess it could be worse. Still pathetic though.

Can you link to the post where he says this, not just the whole live feed thread? I can’t see this.

Time for Rutte to go. It’s outrageous for him to:

    * Not stand up for the sovereignty of a NATO member.
    * Propose the forfeiture of land of a NATO member – especially without that country even being part of the meeting or negotiation.

    Utterly embarrassing.

So, he’s not completely wrong here and *if* he was a sensible person this could be interpreted as twisting reality for domestic propaganda. The framework of the future deal is that there is no negotiating they can do to get Greenland. So it’s there, it just doesn’t mean what his voters think it means.

  7. rhinosorcery on

Perhaps he really meant that they had a framework for Iceland?

  8. This is all about selling this as a win now from Trump’s perspective. From what details we know it sounds like Trump has just got exactly what the US already had before this all started but that’s being sold as a win rather than a loss after causing lots of disruption for no reason.

Over on the Conservative sub they are lapping this up with lots of art of the deal quotes and saying yet again Trump owned the Euros so it seems Trumps attempt to sell this as a win are working with who it needs to work with.

    Old Dementia Donny Strikes again.

And by strikes, I mean falls asleep dribbling incoherently.

So the voices in his head again are yelling. “Sir! SIR!!”, they shout.
“You are the bestest Daddy and we want to reward you with exactly what you’re owed and due. We need to make this deal to show everyone you are The Man.”

At some point, not sure when, reality will catch up and those who enable this insanity will be accountable.

Danish PM said that according to her conversation with Mark Rutte the sovereignty of Greenland was not discussed, nor was mineral extraction.

Found the press information video from earlier today. What she said was NATO was an organisation currently tasked with protecting the eastern, southern and northern flank. While there might be a need for increased activity in the north, the eastern flank and Ukraine is of high priority.

Seems his narcissistic ass is being simply ignored. The worst treatment. Well done.

Thank god. Trump is a dementia patient and I’m relieved to read that he was inventing this from whole cloth. Last night he was presenting this as a NATO-US deal that included concessions from all arctic nations. Hopefully this serves as a wake up call to all allied political and military leaders that it’s time to create sovereign defense and economic supply chains. There are at least three years of this left to get through and we can’t assume a return to normal even after trump is gone.

I’m shocked Trump might lie to save face while his cronies are profiting from stock market fluctuations.

  15. ThoughtShes18 on

At this point It should be expected that 90% of what trumps spews out is at the very minimum, lies.

  16. RobotSchlong10 on

Since Trump TACO’d on attacking a NATO ally then all he has to do is sell the existing deal as something brand new and a massive win, then his regarded base will cheer “fuk yeah!”, and everyone goes on about their daily business.

  17. Cubsof2016 on

Does anyone actually think that “acting president of Venezuela” Donald Trump even understands sovereignty? What would be the point of discussing it? He is certainly capable of doing horrible menacing actions that the US Military may or may not agree to act on, such as sinking fishing boats or kidnapping a foreign leader, so I’m sure any negotiation is about minimizing the risk of that regardless of what vomit comes out of his mouth.

  18. RebelliousInNature on

He’s lying. That’s why he said ‘concept of a plan’. Trump code for nothing. He’s trying to leave looking like a winner.

Pretty sure he was told to cut his shit or some serious fuckery with the US economy was about to happen. Or that intelligence services will reveal some unsavoury things about him.

Scurried off like a smacked rat. Embarrassed himself, again, globally. The US reputation is in shreds. Delightful.

  19. wannacumnbeatmeoff on

So he lied? Is that what they are saying?

    That’s a surprising development!!

  20. ghallway on

Hey america, the leader of our country is a bit off. Wanna take control and do something before people really get hurt? Oh wait…

  21. Nuthetes on

Trump’s already succeeded with this Greenland nonsense. He never wanted Greenland. He just wanted people talking about so they forgot all about his collossal fuck up in Iran and it worked.

Everybody has forgotten about how he threatened Iran, promised the protesters that help was coming and encouraging them to rise up which has led to thousands, maybe 10s of thousands of Iranians being murdered by the regime because they thought Trump was going to take action and he didn’t.

It is no coincidence at all that he started talking about Greenland immediately after he made that threat to Iran because he suddenly realized he needed some sort of distraction so people forgot about possibly the biggest geopoliticial fuck up since Putin’s failed invasion of Ukraine.

His stupidity and threats and tweets without realizing the situation and that the US couldn’t help Iran because assets would take weeks to get into place was just braindead.

Thousands murdered because of his Tweets and he’s got away with it.

  22. IshTheFace on

Trump seemed more interested in Iceland in his WEF speech xD

  23. Mandemon90 on

Classic TACO: Chicken out but lie that everyone else agreed with you so you look like a strong man.

And his supporters lap it up.

  24. Opposite-Chemistry-0 on

Davos is a failure for Trump. He rants there like a lunatic. Wise choise is to be stfu since one cannot literally talk with a wacko.

  25. UOCruiser on

All Rutte had to do was whisper “I know what it says in the Epstein files” in Trump’s ear to make Trump go complete TACO. XD

  26. iaNCURdehunedoara on

It’s really funny to pretend that Greenland is sovereign, or that we have any sovereignty. Our leaders cheered Trump’s invasion of Venezuela, but as soon as he turned towards us they immediately cried about international rules like whiny babies thinking that they could use that against Trump after supporting 2 years of genocide lol

Trump just threatened us a little and we folded under zero pressure. Mark Rutte went there and gave Trump the sloppiest top i’ve seen, and now we’re giving Greenland anyways but we’re pretending it’s some sort of “agreement”.

  27. nowtnewt on

his aides got spooked by the stock and treasury market turbulence and talked him out of it. you can see how butt hurt he was about being forced to settle for the status-quo by his ill mannered pops at other leaders…. supreme toddler not happy not get what he wants. C
