That should trigger a lot of hardcore Brexiteer choking on tea. I remember them being weirdly obsessed with an EU army back in the day.

Its a nice idea and it makes perfect sense but I still think the French will be a solid nope, they really want everyone to buy French kit by freezing out the UK gives them a chance for more orders.

Can we please just rejoin the EU proper? All this recent stuff with the US just shows we are absolutely better off in it than out of it

I fully expect that Trumps recent actions will get both sides of this push to relax their demands q bit

At this point we should just rejoin… Sure a lot of the leavers have passed away due to old age shrug

Why? Waste of time. The eu just wants to stick a massive price tag on it for us.

They’re asking for ridiculous amounts of money. Just leave it

It’s never going to happen unless the UK agrees to pay a ridiculous fee like they did for the erasmus scheme.

I’d love this but EU will charge us astronomical fees. We really need to lean into commonwealth and allies as I believe we are doing

I think people really need to stop the talk of us rejoining the EU. The best possible relationship we can have with the rest of Europe is negotiating opt-ins with the EU that are in our interest and rejecting anything that’s not in our interest. We are still free to make our own laws and deals with other countries throughout the rest of the world.
The EU are moving to an all or nothing approach which is not in our interest as we will never join the Euro or schengen which are necessary for them but detrimental to us.
Before the Brexit referendum, I researched every possible reality and what was most likely to happen. The conclusion I came to was that Brexit would be very bad for 10 – 15 years but would then start to make Britain a very strong place to invest in. We will have the largest economy in Europe by 2050 at the latest. We’ve ridden that downturn and things will pick up over the next few years. The productivity data is very encouraging and better than most of the world.
