      That’s how Danish veteran Gerth Sloth Berthelsen, who grew up in Greenland, said he feels about the United States’ recent behavior. Berthelsen served alongside American forces in a peacekeeping mission to North Macedonia in 1996 and 1997. Now, he is one of several veterans saying they are taken aback by the hostility coming from an ally whose soldiers were once their brothers-in-arms.

      Berthelsen, who is half Greenlandic and now works in a non-combat role for the army in Denmark, described how feelings of fear, unease and betrayal have been permeating through communities in both places, after the Trump administration repeatedly made threats to [“acquire” Greenland](https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/21/politics/how-the-us-could-acquire-greenland) before walking them back this week.

      Don’t worry Trump also offended the British with the same claim.

      Keep in mind Republicans started the Afghanistan war and asked all the nations to help out. And for Britain it was a left-wing PM that’s how gullible and helpful nations were even left-wing parties in Europe were blindly following Republicans in USA into wars with no planning and no win scenario. None of the countries will ever help out this way again. Imagine a left-wing government helping out Trump with soldiers if he starts a war in Somalia? Won’t happen.

      The danish veterans are doing a silent manifestation march against Trump and his awful statement about the NATO soldiers.

      31/1 in Copenhagen at 1 pm . The march will begin at the memorial for fallen soldiers and end at the American ambassade.

      I will join in respect for all the soldiers that came when US called. Some never returned home.

      I urge all to do the same in your countries to hounor our brave soldiers.

      TBH I think that this is how Trump has indeed killed NATO rather than with the Greenland shit show.

      I can hardly imagine how the public opinion will support sending troups anywhere under the NATO umbrella after seeing the disrespect from the US.

      Republican Party has lost all international trust. As long as they EXIST, the rest of the world will not put up with the USA. They butchered the 9/11 and COVID responses, and now this. Absolutely done.
