“The US will offer “more limited” support to allies, according to the Pentagon’s new National Defense Strategy.
In a significant shift to its security priorities, the US Department of Defense now considers security of the US homeland and Western Hemisphere – not China – as its primary concern.

Previous versions of the strategy – published every four years – named the threat posed by China as the top defence priority. Relations with China will now be approached through “strength, not confrontation”, the report says.”

    Link to new strategy:

  2. What is the point of record-high military spending when the scope of U.S. threats and military engagement is decreasing?

I don’t think we need an article about this. We can already tell…

Perhaps a limited access to european infrastructure be considered. They don’t need all those bases.

Allies to offer “more limited” support to US Dollar.

Did anyone get upset over Trump’s saying how NATO troops hid in the back of Americans in Afghanistan? Close to a thousand Brits, Danes, Poles, French and Canadians etc. died there, compared to 1400 Americans.

I think it hides the fact the United States cannot maintain global security anymore, only limited to the Americas.

Since we are arming up, we really could use the real estate we lent those guys. Their material can also serve as collateral if they embezzled our gold that is supposed to be still in NEW York

Foreign investors also to offer ‘more limited’ support to the value of US treasuries.

    Aside from

    – Digital services
    – Energy
    – Nukes & Military
    – Payment rails

What exactly is needed to ignore the US for the next 150 years?

In Europe we have EVERYTHING but the political will to build our own infrastructure.

It’s basically a capitulation note – the Pentagon admits that the ‘American century’ is over and that the US wants to focus on its own “sphere of power”, true to the “Donroe doctrine”.

Nothing changes for Europe: we need to able to defend ourselves, independently, against *any* threat. As we learned in the last few weeks, those threats aren’t necessarily just coming from the East…

There is still some way to go, but we are on the right track.

A superpower in decline. Final threats to the world, but it is retreating further and further inward.

Good. Let him cut the US off from the rest of the world so all the Yanks who voted for him can be locked in their continent with this dictator and everyone else can be left alone.

Can they speed it up a bit, please?

  14. Ellemscott on

That’s because they don’t want it, or trust the US anymore.

  15. delilahgrass on

That’s OK, US Defence contractors don’t need Europes money any more apparently

and this coming from Donald “CHINAAAA” Trump.
Remember how he harped on about china being such a huge issue?

  17. We are trying to be a N Korea wanna-be, isolated from the world, distracting from Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine. China becomes the US replacement superpower, the “good guy”…

While we become the bad guy. Not that we were the “good guy”; just appears to be one.

“The new 34-page report follows last year’s publication of the US National Security Strategy, which said Europe faced civilisational collapse and did not cast Russia as a threat to the US. **At the time, Moscow said the document was “largely consistent” with its vision.**”

    Everything you need to know.

  19. How does Europe protect itself from the US when the have military stationed all over Europe?

  20. probablypoo on

How can the US possibly limit their support more than they already have?

  21. ThePokemomrevisited on

But who are the allies then that the document refers to?

  22. Realistic_Let3239 on

So they’re going to stop helping Russia with their plans to conquer Europe?

  23. lost-associat on

So they’ll help more countries on a limited amount. How generous!

  24. Drakar_och_demoner on

Time to sell those bonds. Support is a two way street.

  25. ShiftyActuall on

When China invades Taiwan, which we don’t recognize, I assume the yanks are fine with us all not getting involved then?

  26. I hope the European Nations force the US military bases to close.

    All of them. No exceptions.
