2029 UK GE will be Labour vs Reform, because if the current trend continues, Tories will probably not even have members to contest all 650 seats….

The irony is I could see them merging in the future. Because the mathematical fact is the British electoral system punishes small parties.
The Tories can probably get away with being cannibalized by Reform but only so long as Labour is simultaneously being cannibalized by the Greens.

How are they not embarrassed? Genuine question.
The utter shit stains that caused 14 years of damage have all just changed name tags and joined the party that was created to combat them.
Anyone voting for them are fucking idiots.

Canada here. What’s up with that? Do that not think that the Tories are far right enough?

Could also be labelled: “UK conservatives offload their most useless employees to Reform.”
A part of a cunning plan no doubt.

And the only way that reform has even a tiny sliver of a chance is if they actively undermine themselves by betraying everything that is even moderately progressive, openly supporting genocide and cracking down on grannies protesting it and using cynical and dishonest power games to stop popular truly left wing candidates from having a chance. So, basically Reform it is then. It is like Starmer is a sleeper cell committed to enabling Farage.

Who in their right mind after 10 years of the Conservatives running the UK into the ground will now vote for Reform just to get all the failed Conservatives back?

No one in the UK is surprised by this move. Also no one is going to vote for Reform just because this nakedly over ambitious meat puppet has changed label.

Braverman is horrible, so a good fit for Reform.

You know what is most disgusting and funny? She was HS in 2022-23. HS is responsible for migration (according to google search).
That is graph and info that should be presented any potential Reform voter who do it only to reduce migration. Solve “the problem”? These are people responsible.

And like in almost every democracy. The right party is trying to fish on the far right side, take up their talking points and gets eaten up by the far right party.
Braverman, who was fired from her job as interior minister in 2023 after repeatedly diverging from government policy, said she had quit the Conservatives after 30 years and would represent her southern England constituency in Parliament as a Reform lawmaker.
“We can either continue down this route of managed decline to weakness and surrender,” Braverman said. “Or we can fix our country, reclaim our power, rediscover our strength. I believe that a better Britain is possible.”
The Conservative Party said in a statement that Braverman couldn’t muster the support to run for party leadership two years ago, and noted that Farage originally said he didn’t want her in his party. “It was always a matter of when, not if, Suella would defect,” the party statement said.
Labour Party chairwoman Anna Turley said Braverman was partly responsible for botching the U.K.’s breakup with the European Union and that the move showed Farage lacked judgment for embracing the worst Conservatives.
“Nigel Farage is stuffing his party full of the failed Tories responsible for the chaos and decline that held Britain back for 14 years,” Turley said.

So the MPs from the party that increased migration, prevented processing, and grifted all those asylum hotels are moving to the party that says it will stop migration. It’s almost like a set up waiting to happen, again.
And as a thank you they’ll remove your rights, bend the knee to Trump/Putin and have ICE on the streets.

This might actually work against Reform, as they’ll now be associated with the despised Tory party, and have to try and justify why they’re not just Tories-but-more-rascist-and-more-corporate-cock-sucking. They also seem to become less popular the more people know about them; their ‘we’ll everything and cut taxes’ councils did not in fact do that, for example.

The year she was in office? It was by far [record year when it comes to net migration in the UK history](https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/long-term-international-migration-flows-to-and-from-the-uk/).

LONDON (AP) — Former British Home Secretary [Suella Braverman](https://apnews.com/article/uk-conservatives-braverman-migration-sunak-fbb2dd3cc521883694cdf1fc7fb3c447), an anti-immigration Conservative lawmaker, on Monday became the latest politician from the party to defect to hard-right rival party [Reform UK](https://apnews.com/article/nigel-farage-reform-uk-donald-trump-dc542381b77903eca33771c22bb841b0).
Braverman is the latest high-profile Conservative to embrace Reform leader Nigel Farage’s message that Britain is broken and overrun by migrants. Her move on the heels of [Robert Jenrick’s recent defection](https://apnews.com/article/britain-politics-jenrick-conservative-badenoch-reform-ca7db3b9322d0512b3a477f9fe09577f) gives Farage’s party eight of the 650 seats in the House of Commons.
The Conservatives have 116 seats and remain the official opposition to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government.
Although Reform has a tiny number of seats in Parliament, it leads the [governing Labour Party](https://apnews.com/article/keir-starmer-labour-party-conference-speech-farage-2788160fd8cc084c7f032c46a5a31776) and the Conservatives in opinion polls ahead of important local elections in May, including for the parliaments in Scotland and Wales.
Braverman was [sacked by then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak](https://apnews.com/article/uk-suella-braverman-fired-cabinet-shuffle-7ea6c89306a427cc70fba75bc386be79) in November 2023 after she called migration a “hurricane” heading for Britain, said homelessness was a “lifestyle choice” and accused police of being too lenient with pro-Palestinian protesters that she called “hate marchers.”
Critics blamed her rhetoric for inflaming tensions when [far-right protesters scuffled with police](https://apnews.com/article/britain-israel-palestinian-protest-cenotaph-e57e2ec31af2fab16660161e5ed85ae8) and tried to confront a pro-Palestinian march by hundreds of thousands in London.
The 45-year-old lawyer who has criticized liberal social values and what she has called the “tofu-eating wokerati,” said she had declined to enter the contest for leadership of the [once-dominant center-right Conservative Party](https://apnews.com/article/uk-conservative-party-badenoch-jenrick-reform-conference-c96381f22b6f41e90ef5109d6c28d1b7) after it was trounced by the center-left Labour Party in the July 2024 election.
The Conservative Party said in a statement that Braverman couldn’t muster the support to run for party leadership two years ago, and noted that Farage originally said he didn’t want her in his party. “It was always a matter of when, not if, Suella would defect,” the party statement said.
