I can’t help but feel ashamed at how much we let our communities down. Grace has passed away. Her killer is walking free.

We let Ilabek and particularly Anzhela down. She was told we were doing something to prevent another incident like the terrifying one her and her husband went through. We let them and Grace’s family down.

We should wait for a few more accidents to tackle this issue.
Sure scramblers in a city. Sounds like a great idea

New legislation to make what’s already illegal illegal.

Typical Irish solution to a problem. Pass a law to fix a problem which is already against the law and then proceed to not enforce the new law! Riding in parks is already against the law and passing new laws won’t stop people riding in parks, enforcement stops people riding in parks.

The solution is fairly obvious : if they’re not being used in a very specific, licensed context that’s safe to operate, they should be seized and crushed

They’re obviously not subject to insurance or licensing or anything else. If you drove a car like that you’d get prison time and the car would be seized potentially be a recyclable cube.

Just tidy up their classification, stop listening to the few whining exceptionalism arguments and just get the damn things off the road. They serve no beneficial purpose whatsoever when driven like that and are just a dangerous and even lethal menace.

They should all be lifted and taken straight to the crusher

Why hasn’t the Garda Commissioner come out and made a public statement about this? He is the one presiding over his force turning a complete blind eye to this dangerous behaviour for years and now a girl is dead.

  7. It’s simple really. No license no use in public spaces. If you get cought its points on the license and if you dont have a license those points should be added as soon as you get one regardless of time passed. And while we’re at it require a license for e-scooters and e-bikes. Doesn’t have to be difficult kind of like the theory test and can be available when your 16. And also helmets and hi vis should be mandatory.

Scramblers are not illegal, they are a type of motorcycle. Not insuring them, licencing and registering them, then using them in a public space is illegal. There is zero enforcement of the actual rules of the road surrounding this issue.

The little c*nts who ride these bikes without impunity in public do not care about these “safety schemes” , this will make absolutely no difference until the government and the Roads Policing take a hard approach to this.

The majority of these bikes are stolen and the Gardai simply do not care. This is well documented in the biking community in Ireland.

This is a great victory for the people of Ireland.

It means these scumbags on the scramblers will fly down the main road with no licence, tax or insurance. Get to a park and say hey it’s illeagle for me to bring my bike into that park or green space. Then he’ll turn around and drive back up the main road with no tax and insurance.

Fair play to the government for sorting that problem out 👍🏻

Considering recent events, the least you could have done was highlight that this is an outdated article from April 2021 – nearly 5 years ago!
