“Hit” 🤣
Jesus what a stupid headline.
Employees will be able to opt-out of the scheme during the opt-out window which is between six months and eight months of the date they were automatically enrolled.
In availing of the opt-out window, employees will be refunded their own contributions since enrolment but the employer or state contributions will remain for their benefit in the fund.
If employees leave the plan or suspend contributions, they will be automatically re-enrolled after two years if still eligible for the scheme.
Alt headline: Thousands of workers to benefit from enrolment in a pension scheme for the first time
I get paid weekly.iv been seeing the ‘hit’ the last few weeks.
Damn I must be masochist because I’ve been taken them hits for years
Not really, so many people on low pay are paid weekly or every 2 weeks, and they tend to be the people with no company pension
Hardly a hit my jaysus 😂
I’ve been getting the hit since the first week of January.
Also, not a bad thing if it helps fund something necessary as pensions.
Everyone needs a pension setup automatically when they start working. I spent most of my younger life working in a company that didnt offer a pension and i never set up my PRSA because i couldnt be arsed. Im in my 40s and regret it.
“Defusing of one of the biggest time bombs for society in ireland begins”
It’s costing me 12 euro a week
Good to see my instant reaction to that title is echoed by pretty much every comment I’ve seen so far. Is there some weird objection movement that’s in support of old age poverty??
Is it not the exact opposite? The government itself contributes an amount to it.

And prices will go up too.
Our pensions are being looked after by the most horrible arseholes in America btw
Awful way to frame the situation
You see here is the problem with this. The wages in Ireland are very low compared to the cost of living. Now if you take into account that this Auto enrollment of the pension is going to take a lot from the workers pockets and therefore it’s going to cost them a lot more as they are on very little as it stands. I started front loading my pension 2 years ads I’m in my early forties as I’m on a wage that allows and I can just write it all off against tax well half of anyway. There is going to be an even a bigger problem with pensions as they tend to invest in some medium risk Financial scenarios. This with the current market could leave pension funds exposed
