The amount of times ive been close it doesnt matter if the NHS will help or not
> an outcry from opponents of assisted dying, who say the delay in the Lords is not a filibuster but proper scrutiny of a flawed bill.
Because it’s not at all filibuster that between the 7 most anti peers they’ve put forward 600+ amendments…
That would be a *terrible* idea that will kill the bill.
To apply the Parliament Act they have to issue the exact same version that passed through the Commons in the next session.
It would force lords to vote on the unamended version of the bill. Regardless on whether you believe the lords are trying to kill it or not some of the amendments have been very necessary. That’s not to mention the potential political crisis by reintroducing a version that’d apply to Wales despite their Senedd voting against it.
Health is devolved in Wales, so they’d force the Lords to either vote against the bill or for breaking devolution.
I wouldn’t call the Parliament Act archaic, 115 years is positively modern compared to some of our parliamentary traditions
the fact the bill erodes devolution in wales is unacceptable. all Leadbeater is doing is turning Welsh mps against her bill. and why is the sarco pod allowed under the bill? the fact a device created by that madman Philip Nitschke has nothing but disdain for the medical profession and stated he plans to use AI to decide whether people can consent to using his machine. the mans book was leaked onto suicide forums, leading to people killing themselves, and he justified it. why allow a group whod ignore any and all safeguards to operate a gas chamber in the uk?!
