    > If Greenlanders were forced to choose between closer cooperation with the EU or the United States, the choice would be clear: the EU.

    > This is shown by a new opinion poll, in which 65 percent of respondents believe it would be best for Greenland to strengthen cooperation with the EU, while only five percent prefer closer cooperation with the United States. Nearly two thirds thus clearly lean toward the EU. Twenty-nine percent do not take a position.

    > The poll was conducted by survey expert and analyst Sune Steffen Hansen for The Copenhagen Post during the period from January 22 to 29. The study is based on 610 interviews and is representative across age groups and municipalities in Greenland.

    > “The survey very clearly shows where the population stands. There is an overwhelming tendency for Greenlanders to look toward the EU,” says Sune Steffen Hansen.

    > “There are no previous surveys on this specific question. But even though decision-makers have talked about increased cooperation with the United States, this does not resonate with the population.”

    > According to Hansen, the result is particularly striking because the concept of “increased cooperation” can be interpreted broadly.

    > “There can be several interpretations of what increased cooperation entails. That is why it is extremely noteworthy that only five percent want closer cooperation with the United States,” he says.

We all know this. Why would you want to part of the United States? The EU is much better for Greenland.

I hope this matters and Trump will forget about Greenland. But I’m not really hopeful.

Honest question: why would anyone choose USA in this scenario? Besides geographics

Edit: I might have worded my question wrong. Which country would poll to come closer to the USA rather than the EU.

Let’s be honest, who wouldn’t love EU? Even those in war with us love the EU and send their children to live and study here, let alone their money in our banks.

    EU IS JUST THE BEST.

After Canadian Prime Minister Carney’s DAVOS speech, Canada is being pummelled by Trump with all types of irrational, baseless accusations and criticisms. Keep Calm, and KBO “Keep Buffering On” Canada !

Even if the US gave 100 000 $ to every Greenland inhabitant to “incite” them to join the US, the fact that they would lose free education and healthcare would be WAY more expensive than 100 000 $, just look at the students or patients in the US who have to repay their debts for the rest of their lives because they went in universities or needed intensive hospital care. 100 000 $ wouldn’t go very far, and 10 000 $ (the initial plan before they increased the amount) even less. If greenlanders choose to have closer ties to the EU, they will not lose free education and healthcare.

Can EU motivate California to have “closer” ties with EU?

When Greenland wanted to leave the common market to protect its (at the time) fishing industry it was allowed.
You are not forced to be in a union with other European nations. It is a choice.

Greenlanders are educated enough to know this freedom would not be possible under USA control.
