Anch’io sono un immigrato, sto ancora lavorando qui e sono arrivato di recente, ma prima di arrivare qui avevo la stessa identica retorica sulla pagina dell’ambasciata tedesca nella mia città natale, ripetendo costantemente che la Germania ha un profondo bisogno di immigrati. Come funziona? Perché la Germania ha bisogno di così tanti immigrati se il mercato sembra già saturo?

The “skilled labour shortage” is a codeword for a lack of people in a few select sectors (like rural doctors, taking care of elderly people or experts in certain scientific fields. This is more due to a lack of people willing to do it rather than an actual worker shortage. I don’t get that fixation on indian migrants either.
There’s more than just IT or generic business fields, which is what some people in India seem to forget. Those fields, as well as several other white collar jobs, are indeed saturated. The skilled workers that Germany actually needs are doctors, nurses plumbers, electricians and other blue collar workers.
