A cosa servono e perché in centro città?

[Garden allotments](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allotment_(gardening)). Their original use was to improve the working class’s access to vegetables/fruit. Nowadays it’s mostly about having access to a garden to enjoy, especially if you live in a flat without a garden. You still need to adhere to certain regulations though, e.g. you have to plant fruit-bearing trees and vegetables.

    also called kleingarten.

there’s a wide range encompassing these. Some are little more than a plot with a shed but on the high end they have great landscaping cool little huts and are a great place to hang out and relax.

And the best will have a great little club house attached. On of our favorite local restuarant/biergartens is in a kleingarten club house (open to the public).
