It is meant to be eaten as it is. Don’t you dare cook it!

good that you ask! But yes, Mettwurst is ment to be eaten raw. If i am wrong, i hope someone corrects me before you die <3

salad? you eat it thick on a regular white “schrippe” and some raw onions and/or salatgurken on top for breakfast.

This is shelf stable “Mett” (lightly cured) and you just put it on bread or a roll with some butter, onions and salt/pepper as usual.

Yes but this are low quality ones.

I recommend to try the Mett from your local butcher for the full german Mett experience.

If you cook this in any way, you will be crucified by your neighbours as is german law
Mett is supposed to be raw. It’s perfectly safe to eat.

Apart from how like everyone is saying this should be eaten as is I think it’s also important to say that Zwiebelmett ist different from the usual Mett and while Mett should be eaten the same day only Zwiebelmett is edible for a lot longer even after opened.

  10. This is mettwurst, it is smoked or cured. It has preservatives etc in it

The preservatives in mettwurst – and many sausages etc are linked to colorectal cancer

Mett from a butcher is raw and has to be eaten that day – not cured or so – no cancer linked nitrates
