Pensieri a tutti?

We can’t keep spending ever more at the same time as growth has slowed down. For example, laboratory services are completely overpriced. How I know that? Every village has 2-3-4 laboratories that are most of the time empty when I go there. Who pays that rent, and the salary of the nurse sitting there, even though she doesn’t have much to do? That only works because CNS overpays them, they can afford to keep empty laboratories open for the occasional granny customer, rather than more centralized higher volume locations. – Cost control is coming in Lux as in all other countries with ageing populations.

There are always going to be doctors who figure out how to charge extra. I know one GP who charges an extra €50 per appointment unreimbursed by CNS to prescribe you certain vitamins and calls it “nutrition service” or something like that.

I will say I have lost a LOT of respect and trust in doctors because of all these instances. It seems most are just in it for the money – putting the entire science to utter shame. Even without a pay increase doctors are super well paid here in Luxembourg. In the mean time we see hospitals being severely understaffed to the point where care becomes neglectful…

I had the misfortune of being hospitalised over the holidays. I was forgotten twice by the doctors in charge… Once after initially being told I may need emergency surgery (yeah THAT was a fantastic night, waiting over 12 hours to hear the verdict) and once after being told I can be discharged 3 days later. I also saw 3 different doctors within those 3 days. I left without a clear idea of what had happened to me or how to proceed further. The cherry on top? I was told that I don’t need to make an appointment with the doctor who should have been in charge (and whom I didn’t see once). Can’t blame anyone who seeks medical care abroad.

I do tax returns for a few doctors. They definetly do not need a raise of any sort.
