*Dundalk FC CEO Joe McGuinness has said that the club would be reviewing what security measures they employ for games at Oriel Park.
Speaking to RTÉ Radio 1’s Morning Ireland, McGuinness provided an update on the child who suffered burns to his face after he was struck by one of the flares.
“We have heard that the chap was quite shook and as each flare went off, (he) was shaking, etc, so he was quite shook.
“It happens on a regular basis and we always condemn it,” McGuinness added of flares appearing at Oriel Park.
“We have a no pyro policy and the FAI have the same as well. But the incident with the young chap just confirms the danger that can happen from these incidents and that wee chap was there supporting his own team.”*
Joe McGuinness is a fucking Eejit. The supporters who brought the flaires are fucking eejits. The LOI and the FAI are a pack of fucking eejits. Or is it Ireland as a whole?
What legislation can get bring in? Flares are already illegal. Doing criminal damage is already illegal.
The Guards are nowhere to be seen. So doesn’t matter what legislation you bring forward when no one is there to implement it.
They’re already illegal. It’s like anything in Ireland, TDs scramble to get some headlines by proposing laws we already have on the books. As usual, enforcement is lacking.
That’ll definitely work.
Is this another case of government minister saying they want to ban something that’s already illegal?
Why do they need more legislation?? Is it not already illegal to throw flares, or to even have flares at a match?
This match was televised, there should be plenty footage showing those responsible – get them identified and get after them. There would bave been a Garda presence at the game also, did they do anything on the night?
let’s set up a committee who can then submit recommendations for government in 12-24 months time, and then government can pretend they don’t have any power to act on those recommendations
Feckin eejits.
Why are they still spending time making new legislation we all know can’t or won’t be enforced?
How about the make some legislation ensuring that the legislation we have gets enforced?
