  1. “C’est arrivé prêt de chez vous” was a subsection for trivial local news in a Belgian newspaper.

    “Man Bites Dog” kinda means the opposite and is how media doubles down on the exceptions, because they are news worthy compared to the every day occurrence of a dog biting a man.

    The expression was already largely known to journalists so it’s not a surprise they ended up with Man Bijt Hond for a tvshow about daily life in all it’s facets.
