I wish the people in power cared as much as this man! God bless em!

Mhm… Tell that to my local service stations that magically raised prices same morning the war in Middle East started. And home heating oil price has gone up by almost 15% overnight from the local retailers.
He might not want gauging but it is there, and the government is doing absolutely feck all to deal with it, as always
He also “warned” against price gouging when the war in ukraine kicked off and nothing was really done about that.

All bark and no bite. Petrol prices already rose. What is the Taoiseach going to do about it? More words perhaps? Jesus have mercy.

Just so people know, 60% of fuel prices here are Taxes.
This is basically the Taoiseach doing a smoke and mirrors job….look over here!!! Don’t look at the governments high tax on fuel!!!….it’s the fuel providers fault!

Awful shame this man isn’t in any position where he could do something to enforce this kind of view.
Similar to that nice chap Leo who marched in the pride parade to advocate for adoption rights for gay people. If only we had people like that running the Country, they’d even be able to legislate for this type of forward thinking.
Like that Healy-Rae character who stood up and delivered a great speech to the Dáil about how we need to take care of our disabled community better; ensuring they have an ample allowance to heat their homes through the winter, and not struggle with basic necessities like food. Right before he accidentally voted against it.

That a lot of words with no action. Thanks for it. Your words have warmed me as I turn off the heating because the price of the local oil shot up 6c the very next dayÂ

But we won’t do anything about it. Typical from this bystander Government.

Alot of this could be stopped if they were to severely penalise fuel companies that pulled this shit to begin with. Theres no excuse for fuel prices going up at the forecourts so quickly other than opportunistic profiteering at work, it realistically should not affect the price for a few weeks when stocks get replenished.Â
What also isnt helping is the excessive taxation on fuel either, the whole carbon tax bullshit aside if fuel up the north is effectively 30c a litre cheaper than down here thats a major problem, there shouldnt be such a significant price difference to begin with and as well as that public transport isnt always an option for plenty of people expecially down the country.Â

It’s not price gouging. The price of oil (in EUR) has increased by 20% in the last 3 days. If they don’t increase the prices at the pumps, they will be losing money.

How much tax does the government take form petrol and diesel, I forget.

Price gouging petrol is like war profiteering
Many years ago. Rté did what was meant to be a puff piece pn politicians. What it showed was how out of touch they are.
A reporter asked how much was milk, bread, eggs. They failed miserably.
Its gonna be €2 per litre real soon. The carbon taxes on petrol and diesel need to be scrapped to bring prices down
Those words will truly scare them
In news today, man shouts into the wind and expects the wind to listen
Wanting and doing anything about it are two different things
