“A ballistic ammunition, which was detected to be fired from Iran and directed towards Turkish airspace after passing through Iraqi and Syrian airspace, was timely engaged and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense elements stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean.

It was determined that the piece of ammunition that fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay province belonged to the air defense ammunition that intercepted the threat in question after it was destroyed in the air. There was no loss of life or injury in the incident.

Our will and capacity to ensure the security of our country and our citizens are at the highest level. While Türkiye is on the side of regional stability and peace, it is capable of ensuring the security of its lands and citizens, regardless of who they come from and where they come from. Any steps towards the defense of our lands and airspace will be taken with determination and without hesitation. We remind you that we reserve the right to respond to any hostile attitude towards our country.

We warn all parties to refrain from taking steps that will cause conflicts to spread further in the region. In this context, we will continue to consult with NATO and our other allies.”
