Kazakhstan and the EU are set to reach a final agreement on visa procedures during 2026, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev said on the sidelines of the Mazhilis, the lower house of Kazakhstan’s parliament.
Journalists asked Kosherbayev whether the EU is being accommodating in the negotiations. In response, the official said the issue is a matter for bilateral discussion.
«This is not about who will win, but about how the sides view reaching a consensus,» he noted.
Kosherbayev added that the issue of visa-free travel to EU countries for Kazakhstani citizens remains open.
«You’ll find out later; we’re not rushing things right now,» he concluded.

visa issues for eu is so difficult. you have france, germany, italy, spain and greece for top destinations. austria, poland, czech and portugal for cheap travel. so these countries require bunch of documents for visa. then you have countries like bulgaria, romania, estonia, latvia, hungary (by the way not even eu citizens are willing to travel these countries) that require same amount of documents as previously stated countries. i think countries that get fewer tourist visits should require less documentation so that they can also get some tourism money. i doubt people will bother to visit second group countries while for same amount of trouble they can see first group countries.
