the government were warned this would happen: [Government was advised that rent reforms carried ‘significant’ risk of evictions](https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/housing-planning/2026/03/18/government-was-advised-that-rent-reforms-carried-significant-risk-of-evictions/)

    they lied about it: [
Housing Minister rejects claims that Co Wexford evictions are linked to his rental reforms](https://www.thejournal.ie/wexford-evictions-2-6972250-Mar2026/)

and they did it anyway, and it happened just as they knew it would.

just to make crystal clear the situation here: the government knowingly and deliberately implemented legislation that would harm a lot of people, then lied to the people about the obvious effects of that legislation, in order to boost the rental economy in favour of rent collectors.

good job ireland. are you happy that you voted for liars? was it your intention to hurt people when you cast your vote?

Is this why daft suddenly has loads of properties to rent compared to last year. The prices are through the roof though.

Myself and my family have been evicted. The fucking market is depressing. Will have to pay just under out wages just to rent. 90% of landlords are taking the piss. Pure greed.

    Notice of termination.

Eviction is a different legal process.

It’s sad news for many but dramatic inaccurate headlines won’t help the situation.

They were told this would happen. Guess who’s scooping those properties up? Investors.

Sadly I think this is the straw that broke the camel’s for me, I don’t think I can afford my country anymore.

This was always the intended result. More power, and more profit in the hands of private interests at the expense of the public good. These are the same cretins who will look you in the eye and tell you that more evictions means more freedom for the market and better results overall. So you and yours who have been evicted are the sacrifice they are willing to pay.

Never mind there is none of them facing the same housing insecurity, never mind there is many of them benefiting directly from the changes in law they voted for, never mind that rents and house prices only continue to rise.

Your suffering, their profit. Your rent, their holiday. Your home, their investment.

They’d buy and sell your children as fast… know that.
