  1. Must have had some bad experiences with food. Maybe they were just unlucky.

  2. Maleficent-Put1705 on

A hate crime against Italians, that pizza looks shite.

What do you expect from someone who’s on Threads. Absolute melter.

I hate this myth our food is bad. We produce great food, but we lack imagination when creating with it

Good job they started by trying the food Ireland is famous for, takeaway pizza

My friend’s in laws are from Ohio. They hate the food here. Mad craic.

Some of the freshest seafood and best food I’ve ever tasted was from Ireland. Dingle and Cork English Market specifically.

I would say the average quality of food in Ireland is quite high, as are the prices . Better chance having a decent meal out in Ireland from going to a random
Place compared to many of our European neighbours, even those with lauded “food cultures”.

If this is their idea of ‘decent’ food, of course they’re going to think the *actual* food here is terrible. I wouldn’t imagine this is the type of person to appreciate grass-fed beef, organic free range eggs or fresh fruit and vegetables.

Someone probably gave him a vegetable and he needs to recover.

I would who heartedly agree with the statement, but not coming from an American who thinks that is a good pizza.

That pizza does look pretty shit in fairness, they probably just ate in bad places.

My brother was in college with a fella from a small town in America. When his parents came to visit they hated the food – too fresh for them. They ended up eating in Burger King and Maccy D’s for the last few days.

    Immigrant perspective…
The ingredients are far superior than many places, the variety is increasing (even over just the past ten years. )
The further ye get from English cuisine. The better!
There are loads of interesting cafes, bakeries, and food trucks opening, but it takes a whole lot of effort and luck to get something to catch. I managed restaurant and a chipper. People here will go mad for something new, but it only lasts a few weeks before going back to the simple old toasted sangwich, snack boxes, bolognese, etc.
I am seeing a few things stick here and there though!
Also, even foreign things like fast food, and condiments are better here due to good, real, fresh ingredients as opposed to creations from a lab.
There is no good pizza though, aside from the italian lad in the food truck on the quay… he’s sound out… but
    I make that myself anyways

Irish traditional food is certainly nothing special (sorry to anyone who disagrees).

But you can fond lots if good quality food from lots of cuisines here. It’s not the 1980s here.

    Same applies to the UK.

If you avoid the tourist traps there is amazing food to be had out there. I’ve eaten some awful meals in the US too

  17. fionnuisce on

If you go to shit restaurants and takeaways, you’ll get shit food. That’s universal.

I like how the name is blurred but the profile picture isn’t

  19. If someone can’t find decent food in Ireland then I think they might be the problem.

  20. Tiny-Blacksmith1146 on

Someone probably put something green on his plate.

Irish food quality and restaurant quality are quite well regarded these days. Our ‘cuisine’ was basically peasant from a time when we literally lived off scraps of land and had anything decent exported to England. And I don’t think we’ve ever bragged it either.

And we don’t pump it all full of antibiotics, steroids and growth hormones either. Irish mid quality beef from Lidl is better than most too shelf beef you’d find in the US and much of Europe.

It’s a margarita pizza – so plain. I’d reckon the person is a picky eater by default.

  22. OvertiredMillenial on

Terrible is harsh but there’s more than a kernel of truth. Despite having world-class produce, so many restaurants put out such mediocre fare.

  23. omnipresentatio on

Best beef and dairy products come from here.

What and where were they eating? That looks like a standard takeaway pizza, I’m guessing they weren’t going to good restaurants

  24. DorkusMalorkus89 on

If that pizza is high calibre to them, anything else they’ve said regarding food is to be taken with a pinch of salt.

  25. WideChrome1 on

Probably just an American who’s never tasted real food before.

The food is lovely and fresh here, and in Dublin you can find every sort of cuisine on the planet. Perhaps our traditional cuisine is lacking but who cares?

We just don’t have as much slop.

  26. -SideshowBlob- on

If they think a pizza is the best thing they’ve had here then the person is a gobshite who only eats processed food. They’d have the same opinion everywhere that isn’t the US.

  27. Pizzas here are pretty shit yeah, takes a lot of work to find a good pizza place. I remember when I first arrived a friend wanted me to try this place called ‘Mizzonis’ , man it was like dog food on a pizza, I wanted to be sick.

  28. TheBaggyDapper on

I don’t mind ‘terrible’ food, I just want it to be edible and inoffensive, but I don’t eat takeaway pizzas because the boxes vex me.
