One of the major turn offs of commuting to public transport in this country (being 5-10km from the nearest bus, train etc.) is the fear of coming back after a long day of work to OPs situation and having to shell out for a new bike. Possibly multiple times …

I was looking for a bike 2 years ago, i asked the seller the size. It was too small. He was a young lad, and asked me what i wanted and he’d have it in a few days.
Totally sus so i told him to do one.

That was super easy taking for them I’m afraid. IMHO when you have the dosh to replace it get a folder that can come on the train with you, locking at stations, even with a D lock, is futile.
