For the lorry drivers I get it, the diesel costs are killing your livelihood and you want something done.
For farmers to say they are being “taxed to extinction” feels absurd when they are propped up by subsidies generated by taxes, without which their jobs would cease to exist.
Fair play to them, they got the people off the busses and Luas and forced them to walk. Great stuff, I’m sure Trump will roll over any minute and stop this farcical war

A lot of folks seem to be getting fairly angry about this. I wonder if they’ll annoy people to the point of seeing a lot of lorries, tractors, etc with damage to them and deflated tires in the coming days?Â
Guys. This is what it looks like when someone gets off their arse and actually says no. Is it inconveniencing everyone? Sure.
I had a mentality of “fair play to them, but I wish they wouldn’t impact everyone and make the whole thing worse for everyone else”. Then I sort of copped on and zoomed out on the situation. I have never gotten off my lazy arse to protest, yet frequently complain about all the shit going on.
At the end of the day, I am not a lorry driver or a farmer, but if/when something is done about this, it’ll be they who actually sparked a change. The people (like myself) sitting on their holes, getting more and more frustrated with what’s been happening here over the years haven’t sparked any kind of resolution to these problems.
The only thing I have done, is frequently tried to vote out this current government, because at this stage I would welcome any kind of reasonable change of government. Something has to change. The cut they take from petrol is enormous and as of now, Ireland is paying more for it than all of the US, the fucking country who started all this.
Yes it’s worse in other countries, it’s also better in other countries. We could be so much better, but insist on not showing up on voting day and then get mad when the blue rinse brigade show up in their massive groups to keep everything the exact same way.
