The wingnut conspiracy Facebook brigades will be delighted – they’ve been waiting since March 2020 for the army to be sent out.
Glad government is taking this in hand now.

About time the government stepped in, no protest group should be allowed block ports and fuel depots.

About time, particularly at fuel depots. Blocking fuel supplies while complaining about the price of fuel sounds a bit thick.

This is going to get messy, and the right wing conspiracy experts will be posting some shite on social media.

Why do you need the army, isnt this the type of situation the Gardai are supposed to handle?

> Owners of those vehicles should remove them immediately this morning and should not complain later about any damage caused to those vehicles during removal.
That’s a wink and a nod to the army not to be so careful. Love it.

It’s clear this has escalated far beyond what the protesters expected. I just hope the army has people trained to handle the machinery properly, and that no one tries dragging anything onto low loaders in a rush.

Really only proportionally to have they’ve handled other people blocking the roads

Have always respected the men and women of Óglaigh na hÉireann, despite the stick they get from some people, hopefully they get the job done quick, effectively and stay safe doing so.

About time. Blocking fuel depo is a security threat to the country and people doing it need to be dealt with harshly.
Impound every vehicle involved and refuse release until the owner is investigated to be fully compliant with the law.

Im usually pro-protest… But these guys are protesting because of world events outside Irelands influance or control and causing not only disruption but also endangering the public by delaying emergency vehicles.
We all want “less tax” specifically for things we want but you already got it, and if things get worse, you’ll probably get more relief. Go to the states and protest their war thats causing the problem.

Defining ‘critical infrastructure’ would be useful. Of course this is related to the fuel depots but how far will this be escalated? Will they remove vehicles at Dublin Airport, the Dublin Port Tunnel and the motorways if needed?

I was looking back at how gardai dealt with the Debenham workers from a few years ago to compare with how gardai are reacting to this protest.
And its mad to see how the gardai quickly jumped into action and cleared that protest.
Yet I saw the clip of the m18 protest the other morning, and a garda car essentially leading the protest out.

If only we could mobilise ourselves to cause such chaos over the housing or healthcare crisis.

So be it – time to take the gloves off. This is a mob not a protest , this is anarchy and they simply can’t be allowed win this or continue like this …..
