La settimana scorsa ero in vacanza a Bruxelles e continuavo a notare targhe strane. Iniziano tutti con una B, seguita da numeri. Strano perché quelle sono tutte targhe personalizzate. C’è qualcuno che ha centinaia di auto con quella targa convenzionale? È un gruppo particolare? Cosa sta cercando di dire il piatto?
Qualcuno ha notato anche questo? Qualcuno ha maggiori informazioni?

B plate are usually for Belgians with a royal title, if I’m not mistaken

In Dutch:
B-nummerplaten (historisch): Vroeger werd vaak verwezen naar nummerplaten die begonnen met een ‘B’, gevolgd door vier cijfers, als platen voor de adel of de “bourgeoisie”.
Exclusiviteit: Deze oudere reeksen worden soms nog doorgegeven binnen families en worden geassocieerd met exclusievere auto’s.

The B-xxx is an old number plate convention from back in the day when mostly wealthy people had a car. So it became associated with wealth. Hence why people still buy those plates now. This was the same for trucks, tractors, cars, bikes,…)
This was only done between 1910 and 1920. So considering we also had a world war then… they were very rare. After 1920 we started the plates with a 1-xx and each type of vehicle had their own format starting from now on. (Source wikipedia)
De B- is de eerste letter die we kunnen kopen want de A- is voor de Federale Regering dus onze Ministers & co

B-platen hadden vroeger (en nu deels nog) een zekere status: het waren de eerste platen voor ‘gewone’ burgers na de A-platen. Deze laatste werden voorbehouden voor koningshuis, senaat, e.d.
In sommige kringen kickt men nog altijd op B-platen.
