100 eur for a mattress is a pretty good price, a little on the low side. I’d wager that it’s the price for a professional deep clean for the mattress to ensure that it’s sanitary for the next guest.

Chalk it up as part of traveling with a child, and consider taking a mattress protector with you (and using it) for your next hotel stay.

Honestly don’t come to Malta if €100 sets you back so much. We’d honestly prefer you don’t show up at all

Definitely normal, if your child wet the bed and perhaps stained it even.

Sad to read your story, but if you get in the position of the hotel and the next guests, I think it’s fair and logical to get the deep cleaning of the matress. Stay strong and best of luck for you and the family. I hope you still have a great vacation.

If you have a kid that still wets the bed, why isn’t it wearing a diaper or you’re having a mattress protector with you? It can hardly be expected from the hotel to just let it air dry and let future guests sleep in your kids piss. I honestly don’t really get the shock here.

A, that’s a crazy cheap price for a new mattress.
B, go out and buy a mattress protector or nappies.
C, pay and get a receipt and claim on your travel insurance.

Imagine if you went to a hotel and found a stained mattress…
