I am Ukrainian (a citizen of a country who is eligible for 10-year US visas, but not eligible to ESTA).
I would prefer a normal visa for a decade (6 months of stay per visit) than 90-day stay on ESTA with Canada, Mexico and Carribeans counting as staying in USA.
They removed them probably to show American superiority. Romania is not really significant enough geopolitically to do anything about it, but also big enough so that they send a message. Probably has to do nothing with the behaviour of Romanians.
I don’t know why they are still stereotyped like this. Totally not fair considering the economic improvement in the last few years.
No one in their right mind plans to visit the USA at all anymore anyway. So I don’t think this is much of a loss for Romanians.
