I wanted to import a Lada or a Gaz Volga to my tiny rectangle planted by the sea, but I guess it is just not worth it. First reason there are no companies that sell the cars in Europe. Second, since it is an import, I’d have to pay VAT Tax 13% to 23%. And, if I decide to import from outside Europe, then I would simply drive crazy 🤣
42k dollars is too much for a car. You have cars that are probably cheaper and better (Chinese), or even Teslas. BUT, nothing beats the classicism and nostalgia of a gold new/old Lada.
Do something EU.
I heard they have massive difficulties to sell, because cars have become extremely unaffordable to russians. (Financing a car is prohibitively expensive)
So there’s a backlog of 2024 and 2025 brand new cars sitting on the manufacturer lot that they have trouble selling. It’s to the point that they have to furlough personnel and introduce 3 day workweeks, because there’s no point making any more.
I am pretty sure that is a helicopter on the picture, though.
Steve Rosenberg makes me proud to be British and proud of the BBC. One of the few western journalists left in Russia and has the balls to call out Putin to his face and do real investigative journalism . God speed to him and safety to him and his family.

I’ve been to Cuba and loved seeing all the ’60s american cars. Cant wait to go to russia in 2050 and see all the 2010’s european cars still rolling.
42k isn’t crazy, but I’m assuming average wages are a lot lower in Russia than in the US
