doesn’t help that people would prefer a bear over most men

I think banter needs to be looked at, and alternatives to it thought about, as a lot of it is a form of social awkwardness and/or passive aggressiveness. Maybe ask some women for help with this scheme? The article includes Streeting giving an example of how women can act better.

Women have a bigger problem with social media’s “perfect version” anyway, surely right?

This has been another entry in my “white British men are not a monolith” argument. Thank you.

okay and where is that pressure coming from Mr Streeting?

is it likely that… its other men?

I have genuinely only ever had negative pressures in my life socially or from social media from other men. Its not a woman sat on a sofa hosting a podcast telling us men they should do X and Y, its other men.

Then be the change you want to see and be the change your son sees. Won’t happen but wouldn’t that be nice. If everyone could just be nice regardless of gender, sex, identity, skin colour, religion.

Are we? I think he’s probably trying to make himself feel better by saying “all men feel this way” but we don’t, and WE as individuals should be helping the few we know who do feel under pressure.

Obviously it’s much easier if you’re not on social media.

Nope, but they’ll use that as an excuse to further restrict access to the internet.

I’m normally of the mindset that something is often better than nothing, but come the fuck on. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50. Let’s just throw an extra token £1.2m a year at it. The government probably spends more on pens.

“It’s very rare you’d sit in the pub with one of your mates and they turn around and say, ‘do you know what? I’ve got really swollen testicles. I’m a bit worried about it’. Let alone, ‘I’m actually really struggling.'”

Hahaha, I’d definitely be more likely to say the latter than the former.

Lot of people on here proving his point.

      “Nah, hes lying…”

      “Its other men…”

“He should be the revolution, instead of just saying it”

There’s a host of shit societal pressures been heaped on young boys for decades now. Any attempt at them speaking out is met with derision.

Then, people like Andrew Tate fill the niche with hate. Everyone quite rightly says “we need real male role models.” But when a bloke in a position of power just tries to say “hey i felt like this”, people go for the jugular.

You’re part of the problem. Shut the fuck up and listen to what they’re saying. We’ve lost a generation of young boys right now, we’re not getting them back by doubling down on telling them they’re the problem.
