I don’t get it why Europe is still lurking around the negotiation table begging for scraps like a dog. What is Trump negotiating? Nothing. He been doing nothing for months. Forget him and take the lead. But the only thing we’ve been doing is some stern words and the 1822th sanctions package now applied to 3 more people and 2 types of goods.
How long is Europe going to continue with this charade of acting as if the West was united and on board with Trump? Those ridiculous wooing attempts are not only humiliating but also ultimately fruitless. Trump’s administration has been parroting Russian propaganda because they simply share many of the same core values, including right to ‘sphere of influence’. We are not winning anything by pretending we are on the same side. Those surrender proposals should be demonstratively thrown in the garbage bins and openly declared that Europe will not follow any of them, will not respect those and we will decide on our own what happens on this continent.
This war has been lingering for more than 3.5 years. Europe should be completely prepared to resist Russia by now. Russian ships should not be able to roam in our waters. Kaliningrad should be blockaded. Ukraine should be armed to the teeth and Russia should be getting bombed daily. Russia should be openly disrespected in all fields of life and rejected as a cancerous pariah.
If Ukraine accepts a deal to which the EU was not a party it will be a devastating blow to our international credibility. The good news is that, judging from the leaked deal, the US and Russia aren’t anywhere close to anything Ukraine would accept.
Nothing to negotiate with a dictator. Support Ukraine via more and powerful military equipment and personnel. How long do we have to endure this charade?

The USA are toxic partners who only want to get everyone else below them. And everyone bows to them. Sad times.
Demand… supply Ukraine with everything they need to hit them hard, start shooting down planes, drones and everything that crosses EU borders, confiscate Russian assets and declare no-fly zone in western Ukraine.
Then you can demand and Putin will listen.

It’s sadly funny to grow up seeing Europe as almost a paradise on earth (as a Latino), rich, free, educated, etc., and in 2025, they need to be humiliated to have a voice in a war happening on their side.
Europe will never have actual influence in negotiations as they are unwilling to concede any land to russia. Because borders “should never be changed with violence”.
From a moralistic perspective thats absolutely true. Its horrible what russia is doing. But it is the harsh reality that russia CANNOT get back all their occupied lands. So try to get a deal where ukraine concedes as little land as possible but which would also make russia happy enough to stop the war.
Europe begging instead of leading. Make it simple. Declare EU will guarantee security of Ukraine full stop. Ukraine declare that it will only recognize EU negotiated peace deal. So Russia, if it wants to negotiate, must only do so with EU and Ukraine.
Demand? With what leverage?
This reeks like a colonial deputies, off the table, pretending to be tough for the populace. None of the parties that actually matter in all of this has asked or cared about what EU has thought. Last round of all the negotiations has made it evident. Posturing without substance doesn’t lead to more role in the engagement. It just shows that irrelevant party is bitter and wants to be noticed. Empty demands are useless. This is pathetic.
Thankfully, US shale will likely peak ~ 2030 ( some drillers say it has already happened ); then we can stop caring about what Uncle Sam thinks/wants.

Europe will always be taken as a joke politically if this keeps happening. Demanding a seat in this is really a political bankruptcy and acceptance of the fact that no one takes EU seriously.
EU leaders want a seat at the table in Ukraine peace talks but Europe is weak, timid, and sidelined. Ursula von der Leyen is a bureaucrat who cannot lead. Europe needs a strong, fearless president, directly elected for the people like a retired general, top business titan, or visionary powerhouse, someone who can take charge, unify the continent, and make Europe a global force to be feared and respected.
Meanwhile, billions Europe sends to Ukraine are reportedly filling the pockets of Zelensky and his cronies, not helping ordinary Ukrainians. Europe needs leadership that demands accountability, stops corruption, and puts the people first
So Trump wants Europe to pay for everything whilst he pays for nothing, yet he still wants to the one with all the influence, something has to change.
Putin sees the EU as an extension of America, he thinks that our decisions are orders from Washington
EU is weak, especially without UK
