With the whole Chat Control disaster, I can’t say I am exactly at peace reading this… It’s not a Trojan Horse kind of deal, right?

So many good ways to improve the situation with cookie banners, like forcing browsers to include a toggle that websites must respect instead of having to make a selection on every website, but instead they’re just gonna allow companies to collect any data without any way to prevent it, except for asking for removal after the fact, which everyone knows no one is going to do. Great stuff

    3. The EU is starting to piss me off sm with all their dumb changes…
Can we get rid of these politicians already and start a proper voting for new representatives??

A GDPR overhaul should also **explicitly consider an individual account compromise as a security incident**.

Individual account compromise is currently treated as a data requests with relaxed timelines, especially by providers of “free” internet services.

No more lost accounts because Meta automated support is unreachable.

i guess we’ll just memory hole the past 7 or so years of EU policy making where we were told that these initiatives would make us a ‘regulatory superpower’ and that we would set global standards etc…

Simplification should mean harmonisation, NOT deregulation

oh it would be funny if this lead to the UK having stronger data protections laws than the EU

EU has just realized the commercial value in our personal data after fighting so long to keep us safe.
I do not like this shift and I feel that EU has lost the narrative in an attempt to bridge the gap in technological development (read: fucking AI hype)

We are reaching (IMHO we are past) a point that the only alternative is completely boycotting all platforms that violate people. It’s clear now that the EU has turned against its people and siding with the US Big Tech which is as worse or worst than the Chinese and the Russian and should be treated by us as such.

I just come from another article where a company found “a sneaky way” to circumvent the a clear responsibility based on some technicality.

Yeah, laws dont need to be “easier”. Its fine that most of dont know the exact details of a law, we have professionals for that.

We need laws that have clear intend and are written in such a way that you can’t sneak your way around it.

If thats possible by simplification, fine. If not,

Complex laws can be told in a simplified way for regular people to understand. But a simple law can be easily circumvented by smart lawyers/companies.

Come on, bro! Sinon says it’s just an offering to Pallas, so let’s bring the horse into the city already

Some needs to tell these EU heads to leave well enough alone or face gallows.

Feels like EU has been infiltrated or someone found dirt on top politicians. Trying to backpedal on previous achievements on privacy and invasion of private messages.

What’s next, European Status Points for citizen?

What’s going on with everyone wanting to strip away our rights?

It has always been a lingering threat, sure, but now it feels all too sudden and widespread, or am I imagining it?

    15. Arghnorum on

Is there anything we can do to oppose this getting through?

All Europeans should unite to show politicians that the people are in charge, not them. Vote for people who offer lower taxes and do it. Don’t vote in socialists with no accountability.

Europe can be strong again…and will be!! Long live Western Europe, the greatest civilization on Earth!!
