> “By failing to tackle this chaotic culture – and, at times, actively encouraging it – Mr Johnson reinforced a culture in which the loudest voices prevailed and *the views of other colleagues, particularly women, often went ignored*,” the report concludes.
I wonder how those attitudes to women extended to leaders of the devolved governments and how that affected policymaking…

Guy who thinks he’s smarter than everyone makes an awkward working environment? I’m shocked

Technically it only takes one idiot, and we have a surfeit of them in politics, media, business…
Yes, but to be fair does he not also poison the atmosphere of anywhere else he happens to be?

Imagine being even more toxic than Johnson himself. You’ve got to admit that’s quite a feat.

Well, I for one am glad we’ve spent £200 million of public funds so far, on stage 2 of **10** in this inquiry to come to the grand conclusion that Dominic Cummings is a cunt, Boris Johnson is inept, and the entire Tory party was too wrapped up in its own toxicity and pursuit of enriching it’s members and friends rather than governing effectively, which all combined into a poor response to COVID and cost more lives than it otherwise would have.
Absolutely *none* of us knew that already.

Let’s face it, Cummings has always been odious. He’s not known for his diplomacy, tact and agreeableness.
Case in point – he thought a valid way to handle the Barnard Castle f***up was to _gaslight the entire nation_

Cummings’ response on Twitter has been to post a rambling and incoherent response alleging serious crimes without evidence and [retweet videos of Blockbuster Video captioned “this is what they took from you”](https://i.redd.it/1p4b22rtrl2g1.png).

I don’t really care whether the place had a stereotypical toxic work culture.
What is relevant is where all the public money has vanished off to
**cough** offshore accounts

You only have to watch his Barnard Castle speech to see how he thinks we are all idiots and how much contempt he holds us all in. He was possibly the only person whose ego was larger than Johnson’s so it is no wonder they created a chaotic environment together.

I’m sure the guy is an arsehole. However, having experience of the civil service, I’m sure their incompetence combined with his arseholery was a perfect recipe for a poisonous atmosphere. They’re useless and you have to handle them with a kid glove because their egos are basically on apixaban, they’re so fucking resistant to change and act like it’s their right to continue to be useless.

What’s the actual point of these inquiries? What actual action or consequences will come out of it?

Honestly, if this had been literally true I think the UK might be in a better state.

I know Boris would be too modest to speak up for himself, but I can’t let Dominic take all the credit – some of his highlights in the report:
Johnson is criticised for being overly “optimistic” about how the pandemic would play out, underestimating risk.
The inquiry says he “repeatedly changed his mind” on tough decisions (e.g., when to introduce stricter measures). ‘Wonky shopping trolley’
According to the report, Johnson “put his political reputation ahead of public safety.”
There is also criticism that Johnson ignored scientific advice when it didn’t fit his agenda.
The bereaved families’ group (Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK) strongly condemns him, saying his leadership “cost tens of thousands of lives that could and should have been saved.”
The report is deeply critical of Johnson’s moral and political leadership. Families of those who died feel vindicated and are calling for Johnson to lose his ex-PM benefits.
