This is what happens when right wing gowls start to drive a whole country mad.

Don’t know why the Indo had to give so many details about the girl. Think she could have done without the whole country knowing people think she looks like a boy.

In any case, this kind of incident is just one of many where the targeting of trans people has led to the targeting of cis people who don’t conform to some outdated view of how their gender should look.

You can still read half the article on the Irish Independent website for free, it’s either bad satire or Graham Linehan is writing for the newspaper under the pseudonym John Greene, “a 12 year old boy who thinks he’s a girl called Sarah won the match on his own” wth??

Just to note, this is a paywalled article and many readers may not be able to see the full story. Someone at a U12 girls’ football match tried to stir up a transgender controversy by claiming that Kingscourt played a boy who identifies as a girl. To be absolutely clear, the player they targeted is simply an athletic girl with short hair. Let girls be tomboys, and stop importing US/UK culture-war shite into Ireland.

God this is fuckin sick. What kind of nonce goes to a U12 game and starts this kind of shit.

If you behave like that, over an under12’s match you need to take a good long look at yourself. And you should be banned from attending any other matches until you learn to cop yourself on.

Unghh you think people would have bigger things to worry about like billionaires or how RTE don’t have an up for the match episode for the women’s finals.

These are honestly far bigger issues then a girl who might be a boy having a kick about on a pitch 🤷

This anti transgender rhetoric has done a number on some people. And this is always the end game of such beliefs – not only are transgender people targeted and marginalised, but women and girls who don’t conform to traditional standards of femininity too.

Jesus Christ. Just read the full article on press reader. I’m distraught by it. Absolute scumbags. That’s child abuse, plain and simple and the guy shouting in the crowd and the online commentators should be charged.

As a society, we need to push back VICIOUSLY on this. These scumbags are now feeling so enabled that they can target a child!!

No more. Every time this rears its head, we need to stamp it out viciously. These people need to know that this is NOT ok in absolutely no uncertain terms.

Well, it is nice to see people coming to defense of the poor 12 year old girl and condemn the idiot who started all this.

I just want to point out that it is important to understand that this should be treated the same even if the girl really was trans.

Yes, transphobia does end up hurting cis people, quite often U might add as false positives are not that rare. But let’s not forget that transphobia is wrong for reasons other than hurting cis people. Transphobia ia wrong because it hurts trans people too.

I hope that, if the girl was indeed trans, everyone would react the same.

The sort of people who have this level of interest in children’s genitals should have their phones and computers taken to be inspected, we have seen so often that it is nonces and wife beaters that have these unhealthy interests.

Surely there is a very simple action you could take as a coach if you genuinely believe you’re being put at a disadvantage- ask whether the player is correctly registered to the team. If so, they’re entitled to play.
