    It’s right beside the city centre with bus and rail connections for all manner of onward journeys. It doesn’t need a multitude of drop off points and this is entirely consistent with the drop off points for stations like Connolly and Heuston.

    We need to get over the carbrain in this country.

    It’s not like all 8 million are arriving in individual cars to be dropped off at once.

    Heuston station has a similar amount of drop off spots and they are shared with taxis. I’ve never had issues dropping or picking people up

    This is similar to Heuston and Heuston has almost twice the passengers

    Wait until someone tells them how many car drop off spots there are in Shinjuku, the world’s busiest train station, where they get 3.2mn passengers **per day**.

    “Belfast Grand Central will have 8 drop-off spots for its infinite passengers”

    * measured across eternity

    That seems about right.

    8million passengers, 364 days a year, 12 hours a day. 1830 passengers an hour on average. There will be peaks and troughs of passengers per hour but commuter rush hour is also less associated with car drop offs.

    @ 5 minutes per drop off, 12 drop offs per space per hour.

    8 spaces – 96 drop offs per hour.

    So about 5% of passengers can arrive or depart by car drop off/collection fairly comfortably.

    Doesn’t seem massively out of whack.

    Sub editor at the Irish News should be fired for that headline.
