just like when TimeOut voted smithfield the 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world, I am fairly sure the writers have never been to these places 😅

Didn’t help that the Fianna Fáil clowns forced a road through the oldest part of the town, demolishing countless old houses, instead of like, you know, going around it

I can remember walking around there pissed at a fleadh years ago. It rained most of the weekend and I was in a tent. No bothers to me in them days though. I think the only reason I didn’t get a tattoo marking the occasion was because the tattoo shop was closed… thank Christ it was closed is all I can say.

I think the most shocking thing is that someone considers Sligo a city…

From Sligo and have lived abroad for a few years in Europe and have lived in Dublin and Galway but back in Sligo now again and for life.

It isn’t a city like Galway, Limerick, Dublin etc but it has everything you need. Anyone who visits loves it and although it’s small you have an abundance of stuff to do.

I would say it’s underrated as no matter where I have lived I still prefer to be in Sligo.

We go there every summer for a few days. Lovely place. More of a big town than a city.

No. There’s alot of shop fronts vacant.
It was hammered in the recession.

It’s had two shopping centres built during the good times. If you go to Quayside shopping alot of the shops are vacant.

As someone from Galway. I’ve been saying for a while now that Sligo has eaten Galways lunch and is the better student town now.

Sligo is probably the town that impressed me the most in Ireland. I went with no expectations but really liked it.

Sligo is good but the prices of hotels are a sham at times. As everywhere else in this country is.
